What did you cook or eat today (May 2025)?

What JAS_OH1 said - fresh cut, in-house made potato chips/crisps, named after Saratoga Springs, NY, a place that claims to have invented them, but it’s myth more than anything else…never let facts get in the way of a good story.
Yeah and it's easily a hit or miss thing. Too high heat they get too dark and have a burntish taste, too low of a heat they're too oily, cooked too long they're burnt, undercooked they're gummy. Best made to order but I've been to places that tried to make them in bigger batches ahead of time and it didn't work out well. They need to be hot and crisp.

medtran49 I sooooooo wanted to try Conch when were in Florida a few years back, but I have Seafood Allergies and didn't want to wreak our trip ...
Abalone on the west coast is nearly identical in taste and texture if you ever get the opportunity and courage to try, not that I'm encouraging you to do so.

Didn’t ’cook it’ today but some assembly work for the emergency pannier food.
A couple of @vernplum’s YOU *LAAAAAG noodles and a couple of rice pots vacuum packed to take up less space. Let’s hope that emergency food stays in the pannier 😂

Almost without fail when travelling Mr SSOAP will say he fancies marmalade and do I have any marmalade?
Of course I don’t carry a jar of marmalade and even if I did mayonnaise is the only bread friendly grease in the pannier. Mayonnaise and marmalade, yum yum 🤮 😂

I realised that what with ghee being stored at ambient temperature and surviving in Indian sun providing I could portion it up and seal it would be safe in my pannier.
I bought a brand that tends to be more solid and I tried a thin spread on a piece of bread in place of butter and unsurprisingly it worked well.
Used a small icecream scoop, froze the balls and vacuum sealed them.
Bet Mr SSOAP doesn’t ask me this time 😂
