What did you cook or eat today? (October 2025)

Lol. My first thought was it looks lovely but they’ve been a bit mean with the broccoli 😂

My son sent me a pic of his dinner last night -

Sausages, broccoli and sweet potato mash. Yes this is just for him and that’s how much broccoli he eats.
If I’m cooking broccoli as a side for the four of us I do three heads and they’ll be none left 😂
Has he always loved green veg, even as a young boy?

There's another event next week, so tomorrow, I have to do a "tasting" dinner at the golf club. That's a sneaky way for certain folks to get a free dinner, but they're paying me, so I don't care
Several of the dishes take a long time to make. That's not because they're complicated, particularly, but because they've got a lot of steps. Gulab jamun, for example: it's a simple, round fritter, but you need to get the pastry mix right and need to make the syrup. Vadas (Indian "falafel") need the split peas soaked overnight, then mixed with herbs, spices and onions, then fried, then rested.
Samosas are just deep-fried, stuffed flaky pastries: but you need to make the pastry, let it rest, make the filling, let it cool down, make little cones for the pastries, stuff them, etc. Here's the process:

DH & I took my Mom for her bi-weekly "beautification" aka Hair Salon visit and then to linner (late lunch/early dinner) at our now favorite Mexican joint.
IT'S TACO TUESDAY!!!
And that means they serve up old school Hard Shell Corn Tacos filled with well seasoned ground Beef, shredded Iceberg Lettuce, dice Tomatoes (which I pick out), diced White Onion and some shredded Cheddar Cheese, AH YUM!

Basically, a salad in a Ground Beef Taco

A side of Refried Beans for Mom & I, excellent in the Taco - oh and don't forget those house made Chips & Salsa

For DH, Street Tacos - Carne Asada - that's all he likes in this food category ...

Yesterday for tea I had a great traditional British dish.

Spaghetti Bolognese :)

As we all know, Spaghetti Bolognese is not a traditional Italian dish but an adaption of two Italian dished brought together to create a delicious meal that is frequently eaten in most British households - we even give is shortened nick-name; SpagBol :)

A bold statement and one I’m gonna do a runner from before the provenance police arrive 😂

Don't tell anyone that I put mushrooms in it or that will really set them off! 😮

Fish and Chips is one of the dishes us Brits are known for around the world, but if it wasn't for the Italians popularising the dish in the 1890s who knows what we'd all be eating?!
