What did you cook or eat today? (October 2025)

Good idea.
I've seen several cream soup starter recipes on YT. I've been meaning to make one up to keep on hand, but never got around to it. That's more of a powder base.
But I do keep a package on dehydrated veggies on hand for adding to things. It has a nice flavor to it.
Where do you get your dehydrated veggies?
it doesn’t taste the same with fresh vegetables. LOL

It's Lobster Season here in Caracas at the moment. The restaurant I cooked at last month is doing a special lobster menu; lobster rolls in a brioche bun, lobster Thermidor, lobster vermicelli, lobster grill...
I think I might just see whether me and the wife can get down there for a faceful of lovely lobster...
The place I'm currently working with: chef told me today they've got through 120 kgs of lobster since last Friday :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:
Warm water lobster like we have? As in no claws?

Lobster Newberg is traditionally made with cold water lobster, which is sweeter than warm water lobster. There are a couple of species of warm water lobster that are almost as sweet and rich as cold water lobster, but they aren't commercially viable. We'd find 1 or 2 now and again, mostly on night dives, but sometimes during the day. They'd get cooked the same day in some butter as an appetizer. They look like giant cockroaches without the antennae.

Mod.comment:
Sometimes members do start new 'What did you cook today?' threads when clocks flip over in their time zone. But if they don't, mods will start one (if they remember!). Its courtesy, that's all, because we are an international forum.

In general though, members don't tend to start the recurring calendar threads, hence mods taking responsibility for them.

Thanks.

I'm not one to jump ahead time zones (or days) to start a thread to beat someone else out.
But I can understand what you are saying. Might as well jump the gun in case no one else wanted to start the thread.
Just in case. Probably easier than waiting until the actual day passes by and it's a new month already.

Anyway...
My soup was tasty.

For someone new to the foodie extreme close up pic I have to say you’re nailing it!
