I use a blend of sea salt and pink salt to cure meats.

I can't remember ever buying any meats that were ill.

I liked the dish since Mrs Owens made it for me 55 + years ago.I also like it with tinned tuna/mackerel/ herring and sardines.

Last Night Potato pizza with kulen and cheese for me, without cheese for Mrs Blank. Make dough saute pots with onion. Shape base, cover base with slices of large ripe tomato, then the potato, then cheese and kulen. Dot with Kalamata olives, sprinkle with oregano.View attachment 45854

I was referring to the (myth) usage of salt peter, which was also once used on the foods of adolescent boys and cheating husbands to keep their "peters" out of commision.

That was also the rumor when I was in basic training, along with getting a shot with a square needle in your one of your testicles sometime during your last week.
