What produce/ingredients did you buy or obtain today (2025)?

First Basil harvest. 🤤

A rare stop for me this morning needing several yellow onions was Kroger. The kimchi was reduced 50%, no way to pass up smoked turkey, mushrooms for gravy and I haven't bought tomatoes since 2023 but I have some fresh made mozzarella and my Basil plant is prolific.

Bit of a panic here.
I thought I had bacon in the freezer, but it is ham. Also nice, but I may have to go shopping soon

Harvested my first cucumber today so I'm going to eat half of it when it's cool from the fridge, sneaking up on 92°F/33°F today, and make tzatziki sauce with the rest.

Got the lye to make *real* pretzels but I'm going to need a few more candy bottles, not bars, to be properly prepared for playing with hazardous chemicals. 😂

SandwichShortOfAPicnic You see I even have pickle!!!

Today (well actually, yesterday) I bought taro root (known here as Chinese ocumo), yuca flour, soursop and guava.
I then spent the afternoon making guava chutney, soursop chutney, and 3 varieties of pakoras/pakodas/bhajis using the taro root (loads of starch), yuca flour and a few other weird things.
Pakoras use an Indian chickpea flour called besan, but that's not available here, so I need to find an alternative.
