What produce/ingredients did you buy or obtain today (2025)?

I’ve just bought three pot rices that look like they’re going to be bad which is why they’re probably still sitting in the pantry 😂

If any of them are vaguely passable I’ll get some more and decant the contents into vacuum seal bags so they take up a tiny amount of space in my panniers, then I can have them as back up food.

I find the key to enjoying this sort of thing is to be in a position where you’re starving hungry and there’s no other food available, then they can taste ok 😂
But benefit of the doubt n all that, even if looking at them now seems to be pulling my face into a frown 🤣

Mr SSOAP prefers the green Pot Noodle so he’ll have that one. I wanna make a joke about him being a slag but I know not everyone on here will be familiar with Pot Noodles successful advertising campaign from many moons ago where they were a dirty little secret 😂

Yes and no.
The first one they aired where the persons caught eating one and they say “Yoooou SLAAAAG” was banned as offensive but they ruled as long as the words weren’t spoken and only shown that was ok. That’s when they switched to showing “The slag of all snacks” at the end. Weird ruling ay!

Went to get oxtail and got diverted to the meat plant where they actually do the slaughtering and butchering. Got a line on free pork feet if I call a day before kill day and picked up some oxtails and boneless pork ribs for Pippi. Boneless ribs...🤔

The oxtail price has gone up 67% since February when I was there last but they're still 33% cheaper than any grocery store. 👍

I too always found it odd that they call boneless ribs that when they aren't ribs at all and are from the shoulder.

I found that so confusing at first. You get free pig feet if you call the day before slaughter.
I was thinking but how? I mean they can’t possibly chop the pig feet off before the day of slaughter, apart from being barbaric they’d bleed to death anyway, that’s quite distressing to read.
Oh wait it’s ‘call’ as in ring, not call as in drop by.
Amazing how far a thought can go before sense catches up :laugh::laugh:
