What produce/ingredients did you buy or obtain today (2025)?

The difference in the freshness is a world away. I know where mine came from as well.
It really does make a difference. The bulbs from the supermarkets are hard as rocks and dry and usually have at least one brown spot on the flesh.

The ones I buy from the farmer around the corner are twice as big and almost soft by comparison, and the flavor is much more intense.

Mom thought I was nuts but when I was harvesting I was popping a clove about every row... Soft and chewy they were.

Woo hoo!!! My Korean soy sauce arrived. 😋

I takes me several years to go through one bottle of soy sauce.
The last bottle I replaced I know I had over ten years. Maybe fifteen. I just replaced it because it seemed like the thing to do, lol. And there wasn't an exp date on it.

Now butter... I go through a LOT of butter :D

I'll probably rip through this sauce. It's way more tasty than ©️Kikkoman but its not low sodium. This brand has sediment, (flavor crystals), in the bottom! 😃

What I collected at one of the Asian Markets in The Big City:

I bought MANY multiples of everything above.

This was from the Bahn Mi Sandwich Shop that we had lunch at, it was right, I mean right out of their huge rotating ovens, AH YUM!!! The car smelled so good the whole way back up the hill.

And this case full of my Japanese-style snacks came in the mail this morning, so we stopped on our way home.
OISHII!!!
So excited with my entire haul!
The thing that ticked me off though at the Asian Market, I had very, very, very few products from Hawaii, not even my beloved Aloha Brand Shoyu, so I'll have to figure something else out. For now, I have enough to last us for a bit longer.

Barriehie what was funny is that the Asian Market that we go to (the same chain store that I went to when we lived in SO.AZ), barely any worker-bees speak English.
Our cashier was chitter-chattering away with all of the customers in front of us, I think it was Vietnamese, then I come up on the line and she says to me in perfect English, "OH! I just love this fish cake!"
