What produce/ingredients did you buy or obtain today (2025)?

The fermented black beans turned up so that’s the current eating Asian food in Spain crisis averted 😂
They were the right price too, three bags at £1.60 each 😊

And this pice blend that I hadn’t heard of before. Tipped some into my hand for a dusty taste test and it’s good!

Togarashi. It’s in a devilled egg recipe I fancy trying from a chef I’m sure the more savvy will already know about called Gurdeep Loyal. He looks like he’ll have some other good recipes/advice to offer too.

I bought Vietnamese spring rolls, fish sauce and garlic at the Chinese market.
Then wine, gin and cashew nuts at the supermarket, although the cashew nuts didn't make it home*.
And canned pilchards, sardines and tuna, inspired by one of the threads here. No shortage of those. But there is a shortage of red & white wine vinegar...
Mielie meal & cooking oil for the staff..

*I made the mistake of opening the pack in the car ..

I went a few towns up to a knife sharpening pop-up ... I think it's been like 4 years since I had my knives sharpened ... it was in a parking lot of a specialty meat shop!
OPA!!!!

Not only did I get my three main knives razor sharp, but I got this ☝️
DUDE!!!! So very happy! I'll be going back to this shop ... always wanted to try Guanciale!
The Sausages we'll have tomorrow with our Pasta Sunday Supper, the Chicken Cordon bleu we'll have on Monday, the Bearnaise I'll have with my Steak Frittes later on next week.
