Sorry, they do...Buffalo is too tough, in fact people don't eat them even where they are from.
We do here in Africa (cape buffalo) , and it's eaten in Indonesia as well (water buffalo)

I forgot about the biltong!Bison are farmed (as they almost extincted the wild ones) Farmed bison is really tasty but fattier than wild game.
Never had wild buffalo, but have had other wild game from that way. Elk is very similar. Would make good biltong!![]()
I know in South East Asia they don’t eat them, they are too tough. They are used to farm rice.Sorry, they do...

They are farmed but most likely not in a small confined area like some cows are raised.Bison are farmed (as they almost extincted the wild ones) Farmed bison is really tasty but fattier than wild game.

Either forgetting the TP put you in a bad mood or thats the fly spray!Non edibles: doom, peaceful sleep, petrol
Indonesia is part of SE Asia, but different in some ways as they eat a lot of stews.I know in South East Asia they don’t eat them, they are too tough. They are used to farm rice.
Doom is the brand name for our insect killer spray (cockroaches, mozzies, ants etc).Either forgetting the TP put you in a bad mood or thats the fly spray!![]()
Never heard of water Buffalo meat ever. Some parts of Asia are more plentiful of other protein(like fish) than others, why eat something so tough.Indonesia is part of SE Asia, but different in some ways as they eat a lot of stews.
Rendang was originally made from buffalo meat.
Besides, even though most water buffalo are used as working animals, they will be eaten when they get too old. They are not left to perish.
Yer appreciate all that but basically I don’t want to cook it.Listeria is killed by heat. It's mainly an issue from eating uncooked or stored fresh food. Put it in a cooked dish. Post pasteurisation.
In any case one of the producers is the Neals Yard guy. I'm sure they test all the milk before and after making the cheese. Their reputation depends on it.

Thanks for the info, I didn’t know they are so different. I never heard of elephant meat either.Water buffalo's are those working buffs
You won't get a cape buffalo doing the same.
Almost similar the the elephants. The Asian elephantis quite often used to work, but don't try the same with our African elephant![]()
It wouldn't sit in customs long thenImagine the smell by the time it arrived![]()

The locals will est elephant, but it is not a common meat. Thanks for the info, I didn’t know they are so different. I never heard of elephant meat either.
I think it’s not energy efficient to cook tough meat. Until I discovered a crockpot by accident(office Christmas party gift exchange) I stay away from cooking meat that’s not efficient use of my time and my gas stove. It turns out more expensive overall. The locals will est elephant, but it is not a common meat.
I put the comparison out as behavioural, not meat wise.
I have had buffalo, crocodile, hippo, warthog, bush pig and most "deer" species, but I do not think I have had elephant
Neither would I go looking for it....
