I think that was the device that was the precursor to air fryers as we see them today. Much more simple in that it's a temp and a time with a big pot... I should use it more since it's so electrically efficient.I had one that was almost similar to that one. They DO last a long time.

We have an air fryer/white elephant. Wife bought it.. cooked some undercooked chips once and never to be seen again.

I, also, only eat scrambled eggs. I can't stand looking at, nor eating eggs with the yolks runny!!! I get sick to my stomach!!!!

I had a big Power XL at first. All it did was air fry. It took up a lot of space and I burnt it out in less than 2 years. I did like it though and used it about 1-2x a week.
If you've got money to spend, IMO it's better to get a multifunction appliance. I like my Emeril 9-1 but I hear that Breville makes a very nice one as well. I'd guess there are other nice ones out there too. Having a unit that can toast, bake, broil, air fry, convection and more is great. In the summer no need to heat up the whole kitchen with the big oven. No need for a toaster taking up counter space anymore.
I've had my Emeril for 4 years now. I toast in it almost daily and air fry about 1x a week. I bake in it more than I do my big oven, year round.
After my 2nd Emeril unit started acting up, I reluctantly pulled the trigger on the big Breville. I wanted just a little more room so I could put a DO in it. Or lasagna pan. I wanted an oven again, as my stove's oven has a wonky thermostat and never did work correctly (I found out).
I love my Breville. I especially love the broiler function over the Emeril. It works as a broiler should, instant on when you press the button. And it heats up FAST.
It makes good toast, bakes bread and air fries frozen fries quickly. I'm hoping the durability is as good as they say. I like it a lot.

Sounds like one day that will be my next multifunction appliance. Maybe in a few years I'll give my Emeril to one of my kids and get a Breville.
One thing I’ll say about buying an air fryer - get the biggest one your space will allow, and don’t get a round one, lots of lost space.
