How is the corona virus affecting you?

Aww thats so sweet of you Reuben! If this is Corona ( can't get tested because I have no fever) then I am indeed very lucky given my condition. I'm really hoping this is indeed it, would be nice to not be the special case this time. You would say someone has to be lucky at some point, maybe this is it 🙂
Glad you doing OK Bella.

Grocery store I usually patronize has just gone to 7 - 8 am hours for seniors or those with conditions. I'm 66 and do qualify, but since I was moving out and about yesterday I decided to get there around 8:30 instead - after a stop at the Tractor Supply store for my livestock (I guess they sell tractor supplies too - or did when the chain started - but it's mostly a feed and livestock and pet supply store with a good hardware section. They also sell chicks for home chicken farmers - today they were denuded of everything but two baby chickens and about eight baby turkeys. I can mail order an additional coop from them and plan to do so this weekend) .

PS, no I didn't get new animals, I just want to improve the living of a batch of them I do have.

At this point, I'm just happy to speak face to face with sales clerks.

Roads were empty, Tractor Supply was empty, … but everyone must have teleported into Price Chopper, the supermarket mentioned. They're the only supermarket in the area that sells liquor, so yes I got a bottle of rum and a bottle of wine. And I went to focus on my first aid needs. Purchased things useful in case of sprains, cuts and other pitfalls of being a farming type. Had some here already, but there were holes in what I already owned. A package of turkey thighs, and a few veggies, and some cheese. I'll freeze the one.

Tomorrow Kellogg the Welsummer rooster goes into the freezer.

I plan a social excursion out tomorrow. Yes, to the town dump. We can all wave at each other as we toss stinky uncompostibles, recyclables, and whatever into their appropriate bins.

But at least I do have eggs. I plan to give a half dozen to the neighbor across the street tomorrow. I did see they were restocking eggs today, but the paper goods aisle goods lane is still GONE. About 5 boxes of tissues, that was it. NO disinfectant wipes or gels. Isopropyl (rubbing alcohol) gone. I am fine here with paper goods, but I'd like some wipes. Oh, when I came home and put the injury-related first aid supplies into the guest bathroom medicine cabinet - I discovered... rubbing alcohol) Not sure why the liquid soap detergents are still on the shelves... but … shhhhhhhh.

We're actually considering joining Amazon Prime. I'm really dragging my feet, because even though I'm forward thinking in most ways, I loathe online shopping/buying. Absolutely can't tolerate it.

I also don't like the idea that I'm somehow giving in to unnecessary panic. I want to control the whole situation, not have it control me.

I know...completely irrational, but I'm trying to keep things as typical as possible around here.
Our Governor closed all restaurants and bars in the state yesterday. Restaurants can do pickup and deliveries only.

We shut down Monday night this past week (bars, and restaurants except for take out - I guess delivery is still in, but I'm too far in the boonies here to get restaurant delivery anyway.). Gyms were also shut.

New York announced yesterday they are doing lockdown starting Sunday night. NOTHING but essentials. RIght now retail can be open. Right now, businesses can be open with encouragement to work from home. In Massachusetts today hair salons and tattoo parlours were ordered to close (frankly, I'm surprised they weren't shut alongside the gyms.)

So it is only a matter of time when MA gets the lockdown NY is getting tomorrow. I have plenty of food here, personally. I mainly needed to be concerned about the cats and chickens - and updating my potential injury supplies.

I don't want to panic - I'm not hoarding. I always did and do have my winter supply for blizzards and ice storms, and for Asian foods that I can't readily buy here anyway. This is just going to be a bit longer, and the WORST part is not having ftf social interactions. As I live alone, and the cats, hens and roosters don't have worthwhile conversations - although the roosters can be loud about it!

REGARDS Amazon Prime - I was off it until I moved... and then it was so helpful getting set up here. I am hoping it stays viable, as it remains helpful here. It may work differently in different countries.

Being self employed, I don't expect financial assistance other than paying my taxes a few months late, which was announced earlier this week. Covid-19 hasn't affected my business, since I've been sick all month, anyway. First the flu, which became pneumonia, and now an infection -- which my doctor sent me to the hospital to treat.

BTW, getting into the hospital looked like something out of a epidemic movie, but once inside to a room, things are pretty normal -- quite calm.

Hope you feel better soon. Did they test you for Corona?

Here's a weird little thing: I went to a bigger Kroger this morning, to track down some dog food (success), and they were out of hand sanitizer...wait, though...I don't mean the hand sanitizer to buy, I mean the hand sanitizer wipes they have at the front of the store, so you can wipe down the carts.

None there, the whole contraption removed, and I asked the young woman at the customer desk and she said they were out, but they would be getting someone up to wipe down all the carts as soon as possible with their usual store cleaning spray.

I think people have just been using them like crazy. Before all this, a lot of people didn't even bother with it. Now, they're pulling out about a dozen wipes and giving the whole cart a wipe-down. :)

Ya' know, wiping the cart only works if you don't touch anything else in the store, like the doors to the frozen food cabinets, or the PIN pad at checkout.

You are better off not touching your face until you finish your shopping, and sanitizing your hats when you are done with your shopping.

I don't wear hats - but I had a number of interesting images flit through my mind of people sanitising various hats. :) I think this was meant to be hands.

Yes, you are quite right. Sanitise after shopping and don't touch face whilst shopping. I tell you, we are all going to become OCD soon. My hands are already getting sore from washing.

I've found that sanitizing my entire head is much more efficient and economical. That way, I can switch hats repeatedly and still be reasonably assured that I'm protected. 😬

Oh, tell me about it. I have rosacea and it affects my eyes quite a bit, making them extremely itchy. I've got two face meds (lotion and cleanser) and eye drops, so I've pretty much given up on the face-touching. I just try not to do it while I'm out and about.
