Name an ingredient which can't be used in a salad

Well, tripe doesn't particularly have a great texture for a salad.
And banana is also something I would never put in a salad unless its a crispy fried plantain.

No Indonesian would do that, unless you're talking about a plantain which I already mentioned.
Of course they wouldn´t - but a Venezuelan just might. :D :D :D You´d definitely have to cook the plantain first, and a fried or even a boiled plantain in a salad, dunno, doesn´t rock my boat!
And just thinking out loud - there´s a spicy "Fruit Salad" I sometimes use, (Rudjak) with diced pineapple, green mango, peaches, cucumbers, spring onions and a tamarind/chile/fish sauce/cane sugar dressing. Fresh banana might just work there as well...

Ahhh, I´m with you now.
How about lemon supremes?

I should mention that 'supreme' in terms of fresh fruit is an American term. But I know what you mean and I wouldn't have any problem at all including that in a salad. Charred would be good.

Hmm, maybe broccoli?

Lots of examples both cooked and raw of that. I've used it myself in salad.

Nah - first salad I had at university was finely cut broccoli with ranch dressing!

Ranch dressing at Oxford University in the 70's?
