I feel so neglected
I honestly can't remember a hot sit down breakfast being a thing at my house. Sandwich or no sandwich.
Toast, cereal... sometimes with fruit on it... that was about it. Dad was at work and my sister at school already. Even at my grandmother's house when my parents were on vacation and I stayed with her and my aunt. It was toast and Life cereal with bananas. That's where I learned you can put out an oven fire with baking soda

Seems like every time they baked apple pies there was a fire...
Camping we always had a hot breakfast. Because that's kind of ritual thing getting up, getting the fire going and making breakfast. And once in a while a couple of us would put the bacon and the egg between the toast. But not everyone.
The breakfast sandwich eluded me until I was driving age and we'd pick some up before hitting the beach. Or on our way some where so we could easily eat in the car.
And I never saw them on a menu that wasn't lit up and sponsored by Pepsi or someone.
Maybe they just weren't popular in AO.
