Yep, and unfortunately, they all get lumped together as “American cheese” - the proper stuff, like Land-O-Lakes and Deli Deluxe, is worlds apart from that cellophane-wrapped bright orange shiny stuff.
That’s Weaver’s Butcher’s Bologna from…York County, Pennsylvania. Bigger than ring bologna, smaller than sandwich bologna - it’s the Goldilocks of Bologna.

Nothing fancy but I did have to make the bacon cheese sauce since that's unobtainable here in Hooterville GA. Open face ham and cheese.
Grilled in a frying pan…
…with American cheese added…
…along with a lightly fried egg (yolk busted so as not to make a mess)…
…and finished with some thick-sliced bacon.
