Lucy was really annoying in that, hamming (spamming?) it up for the cameras with unrealistic revulsion; it's not like she was being asked to eat raw entrails or dog testicles or something.

Anyway, next time I've got some Spam in I'm gonna try that! (with government issue bread, which is my favourite).

Still it does give a reasonable idea of the nations divided opinion on spam. A lot of people enjoy it purely for nostalgic reasons. Waitrose reported a 48% increase in sales around VE Day!
I'd guess young people won't have that same connection.

Personally when I had limited food options but had some Branson pickle portions I chose corned beef (which I don't like much either) and tinned ham.
The thought of Spam fritters still make me wanna chuck! 😂

OK at the risk of going OT a little, I LOVE canned corned beef (such as Libby's or Prince's) and it has to be cold and I slice it up and eat it with Salad Cream. I think that's almost as sl*ggy as having a Pot Noodle!

I can imagine the vinegary salad cream cuts into the fat a bit 🤷‍♀️

We shall see, Brits are picky little so n so's when it's comes to declaring they like someone or not and so far a lot of the British expats I've met aren't my cup of tea 😬

Mr SSOAP said he used to be have corned beef and salad cream sandwiches and he liked them.
So there we have it, sl*gs the pair of ya.
 
I think I've mentioned it before round here that in Spam-crazy Korea they have pocket Spam slices that you can just carry around then tear and eat. I bought a couple of 3-packs; this one and a reduced salt version:

...now this one was new on me - 'fresh' cylindrical Spam in the cold section. In hindsight I should have bought it to try it as we did have a mini-bar fridge I could have kept it in between bites. Mind you, it was already the last day of the trip when I spotted it:

I thought that Hawaii keeping their Spam in locked shelves AND putting the cans in un-breakable containers with a sensor on it to go off if you try to steal it was over the top, but vernplum I'll give it to Korea!!
