Oops I was wrong, I just watched a youtube about what’s on sale at Costco, it’s $24 for 8 cans. That is very pricey.

Last night I asked my daughter what does she think of having turkey for New Year’s Day, she said she’s not picky, so I will take the turkey out for defrosting today. I also have half of a bag of croutons left to make another stuffing for the turkey, the stuffing will be baked separately. At Thanksgiving they all complained that I didn’t make enough stuffing, many years before I did, and half was throwing away. No more throwing food away, this year I actually accomplished that.

So I looked in my cupboard to see if I can find any cocoa powder, nothing, I need to get some before New Year.
But what I did find is my jar for making sauerkraut, that was missing for a while.

Trotter is in the crockpot setting for 5 hours. This soup is mostly for my daughter, but judging for how much weight she lost and how shiny her hair and her skin are I think it’s really amazing. Much cheaper than the collagen bottle. I will eat some because i use the broth anyway, but my hair, nails, are already growing very fast.

Anything else in there or just trotters? I do this too with mine.

Not yet, I use it as a base for my soup. So tomorrow I will use some for my ramen noodle soup with kim chi and leftover pork in the freezer, possible with an egg too.
If I make other soup, I will use some of it as a base too. Very plain and no flavor yet, no salt and pepper either.

Barriehie, this morning when I was at the Persian supermarket I noticed they sold lamb fat for $3.99 a pound. I’m glad I save mine in the freezer.
I've got maybe 4 lbs. of beef fat in my freezer I was using for a lard type challenge making tallow. Of course now I've found a place that sells huge blocks of tallow for almost nothing. 🤷‍♂️

Making sauerkraut today, waiting for the juice to be released. Using this recipe from Pioneer woman.

Also making ramen noodle soup with kim chi using using trotter broth.
This is what it looks like overnight in the fridge, I removed the thin white layer, could be fat, could be some impurities, but the jelly is thick.

Trotter jelly!

I save the bones and roast in my AF, 350° for 8 minutes, and save for making bone broth.
