I need to try garlic

It is easier than you think. Around here we plant it in the fall and cover it with hay or leaves. It starts to come up in April and is ready to pull in late July. Then, we save enough to plant again.

Hard neck garlic need to be planted in the fall. The spring soft neck can be planted in the spring like onions. I suppose you would just have to give it a try. But, it's just like anything else. No special requirements. If onions can grow garlic should be able to.

That's what I do too. Plant on Halloween and it's ready May/June. Usually starts coming up by December and grows through the winter and really takes off in the spring.

We plant our onions at the start of the not so hot & dry and take them out before the hot & dry and definitely before the hot & wet

That's me as well. I planted some garlic in April, so I'm going to give it about 5-6 months and then pull ot, see what happened.

Our gardener came yesterday and dug our garden over while putting chicken manure into the soil. Wife wants to.plant new potatoes. Cliff kidney.

I sowed some last weekend. Maybe a while before they decide life is worth it though. Been a tad cold here these last few days.

Well the rain came Sunday night with a vengeance. It absolutely threw it down for about an hour, with accompanying thunder and lightning. Mr Porky was so scared, he wouldn't step foot outside the door.
The good news is that all the plants got some much needed water, after a month with very little rain.

We won't have rain till at least mid November.
So it's watering daily

It rained yesterday, started as a downpour with a little thunder, but then turned into a slow steady rain overnight. Much needed.
