What did you cook or eat today: August 2025?

This is our first time at this restaurant, and they have some creative stuff.

I’ve mentioned in the past how spaghetti sandwiches are a Midwest staple - we’re not in the Midwest, of course, but just next door…they have a juiced-up version of a spaghetti sandwich on the menu - spaghetti grilled cheese.

MrsT ordered that and said it’s one of the best things she’s ever eaten. I had a bite and it’s definitely very, very good.

I had a taco salad with 4-bean spicy chili. Also excellent.

Weirdly enough, some of the sweetness that was in the dressing diminished after resting in the fridge. Still delicious though. I think I can counteract this by adding a tablespoon of sweet pickle juice after resting in the fridge and the dressing "tightening up".
 
Strange meal today....
I made some cabbage pickle the other day (atjar), but I messed up.
All I can think of is that I filled the vinegar bottle with some water for some reason or another. Anyway, there was 0.0% acid in the pickle.
So I took the content, boiled it in water/vinegar. Combined with potatoes.
Mashed the lot.
Put a piece of boerewors on the braai.
So, here's my fake sauerkraut mash
