What did you cook or eat today: August 2025?

So…we went into town specifically for that cake (they were out last time we were there).

On the way in, MrsT decided maybe we shouldn’t go straight for cake, so she took a quick peek at the menu online and opted to split cheese sticks.

Then we sat down, she took another look and chose to order two Cuban sliders.

The cheese sticks were fairly large, the sliders were larger than your typical sliders…then they brought out that whopper of a cake…a piece literally big enough for four people.

We swore, after last night’s stuffing, we wouldn’t gorge ourselves again, and yet, here we are, too fat to breathe…

Yeah, baby! That's the way to vacation!

It just makes me laugh…we knew we were going back in for that cake, so I was googling, “What cocktail with chocolate cake?”

That’s how we landed on brandy alexanders. When we ordered those, the waitress said she’d never heard of those, so she’d have to ask the bartender, and he happened to step outside right when she said that.

“Yeah, classic drink. Gotta go find my nutmeg.”

Famous Hot Weiner.
Since I'm a bit of an etymological student, I noticed that the original German " Wiener" has transformed into "weiner" in Pennsylvania. Do you call it a "weener" or a "whiner"? "Weener" ( or "veener") would be the German pronunciation, if I recall my high school German classes.

Chicken pesto pizza with musings
Mushrooms, onions, mozzarella, feta and spicy tomato jam.

Tuna melt for MrsT for lunch, deluxe burger for me.

It’s actually refreshing to find an old-fashioned place that still serves 1/4-lb burgers - most of the “modern” places these days start at 1/2-pounders, and that’s just too much for me.
My problem with burgers outside home is most are formed and frozen. Burgers cooked from frozen are dry, rubbery, and lousy. I miss old fashioned fresh ground and formed burgers made to order.
