What did you cook or eat today: August 2025?

We decided against gravy, the Turkey was so moist and tasty on it's own, still crisp-tender Sugar Snap Peas, naked, and the Potatoes came out yummy!
I had enough to make up a take-away plate for my Mom too.
I have a another tenderloin as they call it, leftover that I think I'll morph into my own version of Tetrazzini with that gravy, Egg Noodles and some added veg, no dairy product though.

You've just reminded me that I have some frozen Ahi tuna in my freezer, and I always have nori and sushi rice on hand (and scallions in my garden--the only thing growing in it ATM, LOL). Maybe tomorrow I will go get some kewpie and a cucumber and make some hand rolls!

... Ordered our meal from a restaurant and had it delivered !!!!!
This is from an Italian-style eatery that we would go to on occasion in The Big City when we went through or did a stay-cation when we lived in S.AZ
DELISH!
We've got enough food to feed us another meal AND a coupla lunch with all of the bread ... I'll just go up the street from our hotel and get lunch meats and cheese... DONE!
My wife will not order food and have it delivered. She has a fear of somebody doing something to the food. I’ve never done it either other than pizza.

I smoked a 5 1/2 lb turkey breast on my pellet smoker. Turned out pretty good. Made mashed potatoes and green beans to go with for gravy I used a store bought. It was Louisiana brand. That is some good flavorful gravy. I’m not much of a turkey fan but the grocery store was trying to get rid of them. 49 cents per lb. Frozen. Wish I would have picked up a couple more. Gave the leftovers to my daughter and her family. I can eat turkey once. Then I’m done with it for a while.

Well, in my experience, often the food bag is sealed with a tamper proof seal on it. I had the same fears as well, but then I did some mystery shop evaluations for Door Dash and Uber Eats where they paid me plus food reimbursement to test out the service and I found that the foods were indeed delivered tamper proof.

The same cannot be said for most pizza deliveries. In fact, I remember when my DH and I were traveling once and got into a hotel late on our route, and the only thing available to order delivered was pizza. We ordered a pepperoni and mushroom pizza, and when the pizza arrived, we could see the bare spots where the pepperonis had been (I think there were only about 6 left on a large pizza), and my DH found a half eaten pepperoni on the elevator floor later when he went down to the car to get something. We had heated it in the in-room microwave so not too concerned about pathogens, but still we were not happy about it.

The three locations that we've lived never had any kind of delivery, so this was a big "never have I ever" moment for me.
I was waiting in the hotel lobby, just giddy.
When the gal arrived with our food I was over the moon and the two young gals behind the check-in desk of our hotel were laughing with me, "where are you from that you've never had food delivered?" We simply don't have that.

There's so much I can do with turkey that I can eat on it for a week easily! I make these awesome turkey nachos where you put a jalapeno, thinly sliced turkey, a dollop of sour cream, a slice of monterey jack cheese, and a sliver of precooked bacon on top of a tortilla chip (repeat with as many as you want to make), and bake them in the oven. Top with a spoonful of fresh tomato salsa and a sliver of avocado before serving. Then there is creamy smoked turkey soup with wild rice. Absolutely delicious.

Edited to add: and turkey tetrazzini, turkey BLT's with avocado on brioche buns, turkey pot pies...

Our food was delivered by Uber Eats and was NOT sealed.

pocofan our local supermarket had the same deal after the holiday season, I can't recall the price per pound but I just didn't have any more room in any of my freezers ... maybe next season?
It's an amazing price for turkey breast. We get whole turkeys that cheap and slightly less at .39 cents per lb at the holiday season, but never seen turkey breasts for less than .99 cents lb.
