What did you cook or eat today? (October 2025)

True that.
And what better way to accommodate them than by letting them start the thread?

Certain recurring threads moderators start. That’s one of them.

If mods don't start them, then others generally don't. They just keep adding to the old thread. Then we have to move posts.

We will leave the October thread open for at least 24 hours from midnight UK time to allow for those on a US time zone to add or comment. I'll feature the November thread in the morning, UK time.

So far a pot of garden fresh tomato and meat sauce for tomorrow's spaghetti delivery.

Thanks for clearing that up. I had noticed a trend.
It's a shame there aren't more regular members here who like to start popular threads. Or in Australia/NZ anyway.

For tonight:
I'm turning last night's crock pot meal into beef and barley soup. With the addition of sliced Brussels Sprouts.

I planned to make soup tonight - chuck stew cubes, barley, several legumes, veggie, and pasta soup in my Instant Pot. Have to see if that happens. Plans may change.

I was planning to spend a relaxing day at home today, after the exertions of a food festival this week. However, wife has just had cataract surgery and had said : "don't worry, I'll drive down to the ophthalmologist tomorrow".
I didn't think that ws a good idea, to be honest, so I said I'd take her.
My idea was to grab something to eat while she was waiting, but that didn't happen. The food in the café was gross, so I waited, and waited, and waited..
We got home 3 hours later, so the option was a salad. Butter lettuce, tomatoes, cooked potato with butter, freshly cooked beetroot with horseradish vinaigrette and a slice of smoked cheese.
Filled the gap!

Barley AND pasta?
And here I held off on adding mini cheese ravioli to mine in fear of the carb police

A bit of menu planning might help

I don't make it often.
I originally made it using Soup Starter, and it had barley and pasta. But Soup Starter was discontinued. So I started making my version with as many of the original ingredients..

Good idea.
I've seen several cream soup starter recipes on YT. I've been meaning to make one up to keep on hand, but never got around to it. That's more of a powder base.
But I do keep a package on dehydrated veggies on hand for adding to things. It has a nice flavor to it.

Mod.comment:
Sometimes members do start new 'What did you cook today?' threads when clocks flip over in their time zone. But if they don't, mods will start one (if they remember!). Its courtesy, that's all, because we are an international forum.

In general though, members don't tend to start the recurring calendar threads, hence mods taking responsibility for them.
