What produce/ingredients did you buy or obtain today (2025)?

I went to Meijer grocery store after my stupid unnecessary medical testing and found some black Angus ribeye steaks that were 70% off, which made them $6 lb (I got 6 of them). There was also a black Angus filet mignon steak for 75% off (regularly $30lb).

Yesterday I had found 8-12 count per pound prawns for $7.99 lb and bought 6 pounds.

I'm thinking steak tonight and shrimp tomorrow night.

M&S food hall at Cribbs was looking rather gorgeous today.
Haven’t seen Rambutan around for while so snapped some up 😋

I had someone bring me the tail end of his garden.
He called the small purple things apple eggplant, but I've only been able to Google apple green eggplant.
Not sure what to do with them...

Same as you’d do with a normal aubergine 🍆
Although I bet at that size they’d flour n fry well 😋

I think they're bitter all the time but it's part of the flavor profile to me. Some people have all kinds of steps to remediate that; I just cook it and eat it. (Right along with the trotters... 😜)
Probably but the chemical balance of bitterness, sweetness with ripeness alters every day.
