banana
A banana is an edible fruit usually elongated and curved, with soft flesh rich in starch covered with a rind, which may be green, yellow, red, purple, or brown when ripe
A banana is an edible fruit – botanically a berry – produced by several kinds of large herbaceous flowering plants in the genus Musa. In some countries, bananas used for cooking may be called "plantains", distinguishing them from dessert bananas. The fruit is variable in size, color, and firmness, but is usually elongated and curved, with soft flesh rich in starch covered with a rind, which may be green, yellow, red, purple, or brown when ripe. The fruits grow in clusters hanging from the top of the plant.
Musa species are native to tropical Indomalaya and Australia, and are likely to have been first domesticated in Papua New Guinea. They are grown in 135 countries, primarily for their fruit, and to a lesser extent to make fiber, banana wine, and banana beer and as ornamental plants.
I had fun getting creative a new recipe today. It turned out good, something different. I had very ripe bananas to use up. I will definitely be making these again. I want to add some walnuts next time.

I am always looking for healthier alternatives to things, so this method caught my eye. And, when @morning glory commented about a recipe being a no churn recipe, I decided to make this one that anyone could do. The only equipment you need is a blender. And, fitting with my desire to lighten...
heard this was good, so the wife bought some yesterday, dessert last night was loaf and hot custard and ice cream. Everyone loved it. While on the subject of desserts I see mg, posted on another thread a neenish tart. We also have them here. My friend from Sydney always gets one every day when...
I figured this one out in the closing days of the last Recipe Challenge, but didn't bother to check when the deadline was, so I missed out. But, that won't stop me from sharing it. Here's the link to my food blog:

Green bananas aren’t very sweet and are a good substitute for plantains which can be hard to source in the UK. They are sold as 'ripen at home' bananas in supermarkets. I cooked them separately to retain their shape and texture as there is a tendency for them to dissolve into sauces otherwise...
I pulled the recipe from Food and Wine's website. Then I tweaked it to my own fitting. I added a half of a small onion, one garlic clove, cayenne seasoning to taste. I also made my own curry powder.
Ingredients
2 large bananas, cut into pieces
2 tablespoons curry powder (homemade)
2...

For those of you who are interested, here's a link to a recipe for banana pudding. Not my own recipe, but I tried it and like it.

When I was a kid I ate lots of bananas, loved the things but over the past few years they appear to have been replaced with a different variety, the ones we get now are tasteless and sugary awful things.
We are on holiday in Fiji and their bananas are just like the ones I had as a kid. My...
I saw Andrew Zimmern enjoy these in Saigon on his Bizarre Foods show. These are not nearly as bizarre as some of the things he's enjoyed. But, the process of making them was challenging because - as the name says - it involves steaming them. I have a small steamer that I've used for vegetables...
I recently found this in the International section of the supermarket last week. It really is delicious! For a fruit juice its pretty healthy too - just 5.3g of sugar per 100ml (apple juice has 11g, tomato juice just 3g).
I want to find a savoury recipe that uses it, but I'm struggling to find...
If you saw my posts for my recent trip to Las Vegas, you may have noticed that remarked about how the banana cream pie that I had at Emeril’s restaurant was the best that I’ve ever had. And, if you know anything about me, you know that this also means that I have to try to make it myself...
This is so easy I don't think it really counts as a recipe! I make this a lot but saw a recipe using cumin and banana so thought I would try that. It was a rather nice change from plain banana icecream. I think It would be nice with a salted caramel sauce (I make this with dates) or a chocolate...
Hi everyone - I have a bread machine which I love... And I'd like to make a banana and chocolate cake (which I also love) in it. Can anybody point me in the direction of a decent recipe or suggest one for me. Banana and chocolate chip cake would be pretty amazing too!!
This recipe was my Mom's. As a rebellious newlywed and beyond, I was determined to find a banana bread recipe I liked better than my Mom's. After Mom died, I decided that hers had been the best after all. After years of searching through her recipe card boxes, her books, her binders... Well, I...
