What’s going on in your garden (2025)?

Some pictures of my garden today

This is the volunteer watercress bed, I need to get in here and clean/trim my climbing roses/clematis

Algerian Fremont tangerine/clementine, very delicious fruit but it has seeds.

Finally I moved 3 florist roses to individual container, they are Georgia Peach, Notting Hill, and Pink O’hara. This is the lastyear, if they don't perform, I will get rid of them.
I have a small garden, so will not tolerate slackers, lol.

I am insanely jealous of your garden. It's absolutely fantastic! 😍
I've got the space to copy it (or at least, something similar) but never seem to have the time to dedicate to it.

Yes, SNSSO is really lucky to have all that. I'm with you on the time thing.

We have more yet - trust me. I still need to work miracles with the front border where the 400-500 saffron crocus are. I am hoping this year they may flower. It is 2 years since they were moved at the wrong time of year (due to necessity) so hopefully they will have settled in by now.

The farm garden is the old veg and fruit plot for what was, until it burnt down, the village grocer. they grew most of the stuff in the garden but they did not have the issues with the massive flocks of sulphur cockatoos then. I also only have access to some of the fruit trees, not all of them. But we have been fortunate that our landlord and landlady didn't mind us doing work on the garden and 7-8 years since we moved in they have seen the benefits and increased wildlife here as well. Everyone comments on how many birds we now have in the garden.

however the fruit trees have seen better days and they are starting to die back. I have managed to revive the ones I have immediate access to, but I watch the others and cry inwardly. It is hard watching them die and not being able to do anything about it. I would also love to plant more of them - and in fact, I realise now that I have forgottten the lime tree we have growing! that is in a pot in the veg plot undershade and protection until it is a bit older.

Before Christmas, I need to get the nets back onto the fruit trees, I want to harvest. The apricot is one I would love to get the harvest from - they are incredibly tasty and full of flavour - whereas the supermarket varieties they sell fresh (still on apricots here) are just sweet with none of the depth of flavour these ones have. fingers crossed. It becomes a face against the cockatoos and rosellas with who gets to eat them.

Whats going on in my garden - well lets start with White Tail Deer, followed by Bears, Bob Cats, Skunks, Possums, Racoons, Woodchucks, Feral Cats, Foxes, and the ever lovable Coyotes and a couple of other criters yet to be identified. Personally, I think they are some of our less shall I say respectable neighbours :)

I love checking the mail after dark :)

Feel you on all that living in rural Georgia next to a river and in the woods. Can't agree on the Coyotes being ever lovable since my Pippi dog is 18 lbs. and NOT a fighter. Ozzie has her back...

Thanks mate and your dogs are darn nice as well. Ironically, I have a parrot named Ozzie.

All of the wild life around here tend to disuade me from even trying to put in any sort of a garden (vege type) and I did forget to mention the number of rabbits and turkeys that seem to take up residence with us. One neighbor always had a decent size vegetable garden every year but simply gave up as it never survived the rabbits and who knows what else.

Living out in the bush (rural NYS) and being surrounded by grain farmers, we get a lot of weeds, and I mean a lot! When I first got here I used to weed around the house religiously but it seemed like I was painting the Sydney Harbour Bridge - as soon as I finished, I had to start again! So I pretty much gave up and now just run over the weeds/tree's with the lawn tractor.

Yep, make mulch...
