What did you cook or eat today: August 2025?

DD and I went to the Longhorn Steakhouse Restaurant. Can't remember what day. I thought I posted the pictures, but obviously not.

I had a Salad with blue cheese dressing, bread, and butter to start. I had a baked potato (butter and sour cream) with dinner. We shared the rest.

Ribs, Filet Mignon, Fire-grilled sweet corn topped with house made crema and seasoned Parmesan cheese (cut off the cob to share).

I found a gift card in my drawer for Longhorn. It’s good for $25.00 which doesn’t go far these days.

I tried these Starbucks Potato, Cheddar & Chive Bakes for breakfast. Was pretty good.

A mixture of diced potatoes, Cheddar cheese, spinach and a touch of chives, mixed with cage-free eggs and baked until golden brown.

My wife bought these at Costco the other day. I have not tried them yet. She is trying to buy things for me for breakfast or lunch since I’m retired and she still works. I want things that come in small portions. Trying to lose some weight and not eat the same things all the time. Variety. I literally could eat toasted English muffins with peanut butter and a couple of slices of bacon everyday.

Have a slab of ribs on the pellet grill. My first few cooks on it were nothing special, but that was me not trusting the grill to do its job. I finally learned to leave it alone. Quite opening the lid to check on it. I made a turkey breast last week on it and didn’t open the lid until the internal temperature got to 160. I still check the grill temp about every 30 minutes but I’m learning and gaining confidence. Potato salad and baked beans to go with

Penn Station Philly cheesesteak.

I made homemade White Castles. It's never going to be a "true, White Castle", but omg are they delicious. I used my homemade MSG pickles with them, too. 😋
