What did you cook or eat today (December 2022)?

Bit belated, but here's what I made on Xmas Day : 'Chiducken' ('Duchicken'?). I got a couple of boneless chicken thighs and a couple of duck breasts and pounded them flat then rolled one in the other in the skin. Actually, there wasn't enough skin for the one at the left so that's actually some pork rind I had in the freezer!

Then there was a 4 hour sous vide bath resulting in these:

Then a 10 minute dip in hot oil:

I got this book for Christmas and have cooked a couple of recipes from it already; today I did this Chicken Tikka Masala below:

Ya know, a chef friend of mine once told me that if whatever it is that you've made looks too perfect, no one will believe you when you tell them that you made it yourself. The more rustic, the better... you made it with love, because you wanted to, not because someone paid to you and you had to make it. I think your bread looks great! AND I'll bet any amount of money it tasted wonderful to boot!

That one was as easy as it gets - top it, wash it, wrap it in foil, bake at 400F for around an hour, then let it cool and peel it. That was it.

We love beets! The gold ones are supposed to be a little sweeter, but to me, they just taste a little milder.

Most of time, I pickle them, with hard-boiled eggs.
