What did you cook or eat today? (October 2025)

I can make baked Mac n cheese but it has to be in a round pan so there aren't any corners to dry out and it's got to have that layer of toasted buttery crumbs on the top.
Sometimes I pan toast buttery bread crumbs and add to the top. I also like to pan toast bread crumbs with butter, and Italian herbs and spices. I top macaroni with them.

48 hour ferment this time. My kitchen is filled with the smell of all the natural sweet sugars that developed when baking this.

Absolutely beautiful. Photo of the crumb?
Thank you. The loaf was literally less than 2 minutes out of the oven. I have to wait until it cools down completely before slicing or it will drastically affect both the texture and the crumb. I'm just impatient and had to post this right away. I'll post again later when I can slice it.

Had to run up to the state capitol today, so nice lunch out. Look at MrsT’s lunch special meatloaf:

Extraordinary! And lots of broccoli. I would never expect so much green vegetable with US restaurant lunch. Quite how anyone can eat it all is another matter. I'd be hard pushed to eat the mash and broccoli alone!

Lol. My first thought was it looks lovely but they’ve been a bit mean with the broccoli 😂

My son sent me a pic of his dinner last night -

Sausages, broccoli and sweet potato mash. Yes this is just for him and that’s how much broccoli he eats.
If I’m cooking broccoli as a side for the four of us I do three heads and they’ll be none left 😂
