Yogurt Methodologies

I've baked with it a couple of times but haven't got my breads quite like I want. Next go around I won't weigh it; I'll just slowly add and mix until the dough "looks/feels" right. 🤞

Its definitely the 'whey' to go. Sorry...

When I make dough I always add the liquid gradually until it feels right. Its a long time since I made any bread...

I might give it a try in a batch of dough and see if I can tell the difference. I presume it's ok to warm it first.

I've used the whey to cook rice. Delish!

Good idea on warming. I'll let it come to room temp and then put the dough in an oven already warmed.
 
Good idea! I can't quite handle drinking it and sure don't want to toss it!
Me neither.

Here's a thing. I wondered if any critters would like it and left a small bowl out for a little grey cat that's been coming around. Liked it, so putting out more where local dogs can't reach it.
 
I made some rice with it and it tastes tart, like yogurt. Would be good in a dish that's using an acid, like limes or lemons but not where you're expecting 'just rice'.
 
I finally have a picture of my yogurt. Is thick thick or thin?

I make my yogurt in my Instant Pot using a half gallon of Lactose Free 2% milk and a tablespoon of plain greek yogurt. 12 hours in the IP then I strain for 2 hours, saving the Whey. I'll use the whey in overnight oats, baked goods, soup etc. I came across a really good cookbook at the library all about Whey and yogurt. "Yogurt & whey: recipes of an Iranian immigrant life" by Homa Dashtaki. I made a cake and frozen yogurt recipes from the cookbook and they both turned out fine. I also adapted the frozen yogurt to a coffee frozen yogurt and it turned out okay but I need to work on the sugar amount.
