I'm effectively vegan and easy tofu quite a bit now that I'm in Australia and it is so much cheaper and readily available. I'm always on the look out for marinades and ways of cooking tofu and the current challenge ingredient is oranges, so this recipe struck me as the perfect solution.
I can across this interesting spicy orange salad and thought i would include it. The original recipe comes from here. http://www.myrecipes.com/recipe/spiced-orange-salad
6 oranges (~ 2 1/2 lb)
4 to 6 tablespoons white wine vinegar
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon sugar
1/2 cup honey
1/4 cup mild-flavored extra-virgin olive oil
2 large eggs, at room temperature, separated (see Tip)
2 tablespoons freshly grated orange or Meyer lemon zest
1/3 cup fresh...
I came across this wonderful looking desert whilst looking for a new recipe for the recipe challenge and couldn't help liking the shear simplicity of it.

120ml fresh orange juice
A handful of ice cubes (optional)
Peel the orange and remove as much of the white pith as possible with a sharp knife. Chop the orange into small rough chunks, discarding any pips.
Peel the banana and chop into slices.
This is an interesting recipe because it can be served either hot or as a salad. I came up with the idea after making Chicken and Seville Orange Khoresh which calls for orange peel and carrots. I was interested in the method for cooking them in julienne strips. I knew that orange worked well...
I don't usually post recipes which aren't my own - but this one is cooked from a book sent to me by a friend. Its written by his sister-in-law, who comes from Persia. You can find the recipe here:
We are going over to a friend's house for dinner and I promised to bring dessert. I have a lot of oranges and lemons and I was thinking of making a lemon meringue pie, but to add orange as well. Has anyone done this before? My friend is gluten intolerant and I am planning to make the base with...
...why is it so short? About 5 weeks from early January in the UK, but "ordinary" home-grown oranges generally seem to be in season virtually all year in Spain!
Anyhow, we need to take advantage while it lasts, so I bought ~1.5 kilos last Saturday and waited until Mrs Veed was safely out for the...
1 final recipe before the recipe challenge involving oranges changes. This time something sweet and slightly less healthy, but I have found a recipe involving oats, chia seeds and flaxseeds (linseed) to increase its healthiness...
300g/10oz plain flour
350g/12oz soft light...
There are various ways of doing this, but this is a very simple and pleasing little salad.
1 large (or 2 small) beetroot(s)
2 stalks celery
1 large orange
Chop the beetroot and celery and place in a salad bowl. Grate the orange peel and squeeze the juice into the French...

I've adapted the recipe from here and added some suggestions from this site where I got the recipe from. It is suggested that it is served over rice but I think it could work with pasta as well. I would also suggest that if you have time try to marinate the tofu for 12-24hrs in the fridge...
I've been struggling to come up with any recipes for the latest recipe competition (the orange) mostly because oranges don't really feature in my diet because they are lacking flavour in the UK even when it is the season for them. Somehow they just don't compare to what comes off the trees in...
So I was thinking about what kinds of recipes I could bring to the forum that had orange as a necessary ingredient and came upon this one that I found appealing.
Orange-Rosemary Glazed Salmon
Yield: 4 servings
200g prepared Brussels sprouts
400g frozen peas
50g hazelnuts, roughly chopped
Zest and juice of one orange
Sea salt and black pepper
Cook the Brussels sprouts in boiling, salted water for 5 mins or until nearly tender, add the peas, bring to the boil...
Which do you prefer, oranges or tangerines? These 2 fruits seem to be part of the same family. However, there is some difference between them. I tend to buy oranges a lot more often than tangerines, but would buy tangerines on occasion, especially if there are no oranges in the store. I tend...
I love oranges, satsumas, tangerines, and grapes but only the seedless variety.
Whenever I get a pipped (is that even a word?) grape or orange I end up moving them around in my mouth to manipulate the pip to the front and it takes all the enjoyment out of eating it.
How about you?
