CHOCOLATE STOUT CAKE (WITH CREAM CHEESE FROSTING)
Makes 12 Servings

Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa
1 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
3/4 cup (1-1/2 sticks) butter, softened
1 cup packed light brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 tsp vanilla
3 eggs, room temperature
1 cup Irish Stout, room temperature
Cream Cheese Frosting (recipe follows)

Directions
1. Preheat oven to 350F. Spray 13x9-inch baking pan with nonstick cooking spray. Combine flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt in medium bowl; set aside.

2. Beat butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar with electric mixer at medium speed until light and fluffy. Beat in vanilla. Add eggs one at a time, besting after each addition. Add flour mixture alternately with stout, beating after each addition. Pour batter evenly into prepared pan.

3. Bake 35 to 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool on wire rack.

4. Prepare cream cheese frosting and spread frosting over cake.

CREAM CHEESE FROSTING

Ingredients
1 8oz package cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter, softened
4 cups confectioner's sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1 to 2 TBsp milk

Directions
Beat cream cheese and butter with electric mixer until creamy. Gradually beat in sugar and vanilla until smooth. Add enough milk to make frosting easy to spread.
