Cabbage, I would never use cabbage? No lettuce??

When we were in Thailand we had a prawn cocktail with white cabbage, it was fantastic. The cabbage has to be young and sweet, and shredded very fine. I'm not sure the big old chewy lumps we get round here would work.

That was my thought too, we grow Savoy cabbages here.

Ayam panggang (Indonesian grilled chicken) with jasmine rice, Javanese carrot and cucumber salad (pickled), and sambal kecap made with homemade kecap mannis. It was really good. Need to work on the salad/pickled veges though.

Dill crepe filled with chicken, mushrooms, and leeks (I ate around the mushrooms), along with a mornay sauce and some extra cheese on top for good measure.
