vegan
Veganism is the practice of abstaining from the use of any product created by or obtained from any living creature.
Veganism is the practice of abstaining from the use of animal products, particularly in diet, and an associated philosophy that rejects the commodity status of animals. A follower of the diet or the philosophy is known as a vegan. Distinctions may be made between several categories of veganism. Dietary vegans refrain from consuming animal products, not only meat but also eggs, dairy products and other animal-derived substances. The term ethical vegan is often applied to those who not only follow a vegan diet but extend the philosophy into other areas of their lives, and oppose the use of animals for any purpose. Another term is environmental veganism, which refers to the avoidance of animal products on the premise that the industrial farming of animals is environmentally damaging and unsustainable. Interest in veganism increased in the 2010s, especially in the latter half. More vegan stores opened and vegan options became increasingly available in supermarkets and restaurants in many countries.
I usually go with vegetable lasagna because I have never had anyone who is not vegan dislike it, its something everyone likes! It would be nice to have something else that is as appealing and liked by all in my bookmarks of recipes or among the handwritten recipes, that I found and scribbled on...
This recipe is from a site called all recipes. I make this following the recipe for the most part , except I use eggplant in place of the ground beef substitute, and I use daiya cheese instead of soy, I am not at all good at creating my own recipes from scratch but I do OK at adjusting recipes...
Whilst looking for recipes in came across an interesting recipe for an alternate chocolate cake recipe made with olive oil and ground almonds. The recipe is both wheat free and dairy free, with the latter being of particular interest to me. I am also guessing that it would not be that difficult...
This is from Gluten Free Vegan Girl, she has many awesome raw desert recipes, I have made these brownies and brought them to a party at my mothers and everyone loved them. :) ( note..the very first time I made these brownies I tried to use a blender because I did not have a food processor..not a...
Quinoa is a grain crop that is grown for its edible seeds. It is pronounced KEEN-wah.
Quinoa is non-GMO, Gluten Free and usually grown organically. Even though not technically a grain, it still counts as a “whole grain” food
I wasnt really sure what to do with Quinoa at first but have found a...
I wanted to make cake cookies for my siblings during my holiday visit but I found out my sister was trying out being vegan. She gave me some advice for sugar cookies that are vegan friendly. Here's what we'll need:
1. 1 cup flour
2. 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil
3. 1 cup sugar
4. 1 banana
5. 1...
I know a vegan diet is better for you than eating meat. I also know there are plenty of non-animal proteins out there like soy and garbanzos. I went three months without touching meat or meat-flavored food. I did well for awhile, but then it seemed that I started craving sweets more. I don't...
Since coming to this forum I have become very curious about the vegan way of life. I did a bit of research and it's quite an interesting approach to eating.
I must confess it seems like a way of life that calls for a lot of planning and thinking. Perhaps that's a good thing, but I feel like it...
I have a vegan friend coming by this week and I want to serve her something nice but I am a big meat eater. I asked her for some suggestions on what she would like and she said she didn't care as long as it was 100% vegan. Please post your absolute favorite meal with a recipe (if it's not...
Anyone thinking about going vegan but you may have some fear, or doubt? I will say that going vegan is much easier than most people think. Remember its mind over matter, and it is okay to have a little fear when you start a lifestyle change. I would like to hear your thoughts on this subject.
I have tried and tried to eat less meat. I have always loved chicken and rice. So I began substituting Beans for the chicken. I prefer using Chickpeas. I live its bland type flavor. Chickpeas generally take on the flavor of the spices. I use garlic sparingly. I love the chopped onions, salt and...
I thought I would start a thread on useful vegan websites (websites that are solely vegan rather than contain a few vegan recipes or a pinch of information about the vegan diet).
So just post the name and link to the vegan website you like.
Vegano is the first one I will add in...
I made a chickpea pistou last night which was excellent. possibly not the 'pulse' you were thinking on but I can't see why other pulses could not be used.
Ingredients
225g dried weight of chickpeas soaked overnight
8 cloves of garlic
50ml olive oil
2 onions chopped
2 large carrots chopped
2...
OK so the first things I am going to name are snacks/biscuits but if you are vegan (or like myself allergic to dairy) you will appreciate this more than others will!
McVities Hobnobs, original and choc chip. For some reason the dark chocolate covered ones now contain dairy, though they didn't...
I love chickpeas and have been using a lot of gram flour (chickpea flour) recently in various dosa that I make, but I have also been looking for other options and ways to use chickpeas.
Today I came across Socca (also known as Farinata, farina, fainá, torta di ceci or cecina, karantita and so...

Last Saturday at breakfast, you know that time when you are not awake enough to really remember what you did, I realised that we needed something to eat at my parents for lunch. It had to work with a regional 'dish' which we have pretty much every Saturday lunchtime if we are over at my...
Hi guys. I've been vegan on-and-off for e few years now, but I've never been able to find any good vegan cheeses. I've tried a few different brands, but I'm yet to find one I like and that actually melts. So is it actually possible to find a vegan cheese that both melts and tastes good, or am I...
I decided to have a play during the week and try out a new recipe: Sweet Miso Kale Crisps and boy are they good, despite having to change some of the ingredients over to what is available in the UK.
So with the various substitutions, here is my version of the recipe. Ideally you need a...
